Carey discovered circus in 2008 at the infamous Oberlin College, and after spending one summer at SANCA, was completely hooked. One year later, she had transferred schools and started her new life in Seattle, working and training at SANCA, and finishing her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Carey was accepted to the professional program at the National Circus School of Montreal in 2011, with a specialization in aerial rope. Although originally from Ohio, Carey also considers Seattle her home, and has returned from Montreal to continue developing as a teacher and artist. She has worked at SANCA for over 5 years now, and her performance career has always been coupled with teaching and a passion for social circus. She was the lead coach of SANCA’s outreach program from 2013-2014. Her extensive circus and teaching training, combined with her love of psychology and big heart, led her to take on students in SANCA’s Every Body’s Circus program for the past year. She is excited to continue this work well into the future and continue to develop SANCA’s youth programs.
