Mari Sharpe was born and raised in Colorado and has been dancing since she could walk. At age seventeen, after years of intensive pre professional Russian training, she accepted a company soloist contract at Canyon Concert Ballet (CCB). Since then Mari has danced roles in numerous classical and contemporary ballets under directors from CCB, Colorado Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, and more. In 2016 Mari decided to shift her career from ballet to circus with a major personal focus on sustainable movement and strength in hyper-mobility. In May of 2017 she graduated from SANCA’s P3 program specializing in aerial hoop, but well versed in many areas of circus. Mari has since featured the results of her meticulous athletic and artistic training in performances and gigs all over the country as an acrobat, aerialist, and dancer of many styles.
Along the way Mari studied Vaganova Ballet Pedagogy and Early Childhood Development at Colorado State University, Personal Training at the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and has obtained many other niche movement certifications in the name of curiosity and growth as both a performer and teacher. She has worked as a movement instructor for almost a decade now and has been the director of an elite dance team for the past few years where her students have won many national titles and hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarship funds. For her, sharing a passion for art and growth with another human being is truly one of the most exceptional feelings. Mari is incredibly excited to keep that passion going as an instructor at SANCA!
