
Beverly Sobelman
Beverly Sobelman (she/her) started her circus aerial training in 2003, and in 2007 she founded Versatile Arts in Seattle. As Executive Director of Versatile Arts, she built a successful and highly regarded circus school, developed a comprehensive software platform for managing circus organizations (VAMP), founded a BIPOC scholarship program, and produced countless shows. On Jan 1, 2024, she retired from studio ownership but continues to teach and maintain the other branches of the Versatile Arts business. She has been a member of the American Circus Educators safety committee since its inception and served as its chair from 2017 to 2024. Prior to her circus career, she spent 20 years in the software industry, including various senior technical and management positions at Microsoft. She holds a BA from Wellesley College (1986) and a MS from UC Berkeley (1991).
Beverly brings to the SANCA board her 20+ years of experience in the circus world, over a decade of management experience in the software world, and a deeply held belief in the value of circus -- and specifically the value of SANCA to the local and national community.
