BOOK YOUR TICKETS

Hello SANCA Family!

Our annual Gala fundraiser and circus show, Up With a Twist, is only a few weeks away! We’ve kept our noses to the grindstone to make this one of our best shows to date, so we hope you’ll come out to see our Youth Companies and Guest Artists’ hard work in action! Tickets are on sale now. We encourage you to buy your tickets early to lock in the best price since ticket prices will go up on August 13!

Up With a Twist is always a good time, but it’s so much more than that! The event raises funds to support SANCA’s work and this year that support is needed more than ever! Our Social Circus programs were suspended due to the pandemic, so much of the funds raised this year will go to rebuilding those programs, which provide circus to typically underserved populations. Our Social Circus programs include Every Body’s Circus (EBC) for students with physical, mental, and emotional challenges; the new BIPOC Youth Scholarship which aims to increase diversity and inclusion in the circus arts; our outreach programs which allow us to share the joy of circus outside the confines of our building; and more. Can we count on your support?

Every ticket sold helps to keep SANCA thriving and introducing new generations to the beauty and creativity of circus. Are you capable of purchasing a table, but fear you’ll have more seats then you need? Consider sponsoring a table to host SANCA coaches and families of performers who may not be able to attend otherwise. You purchase the table and we’ll fill your remaining seats with fun and lively company! Click this link to purchase a table (or two!). After you complete your purchase, our team will reach out to you to ask for names of guests, and you can reply that you’d like to host coaches and performer families for some or all of your seats. Want to help, but unable to attend the event in person or sponsor a table? Please consider giving a gift of support via our online portal.

We’re ready to take you on a wild ride through the deepest corners of the jungle! Come out and enjoy a good meal, a dazzling show, and the joy of supporting a worthy cause! Grab your tickets now before prices increase on August 13th!

An Important Message from our Executive Director

Hello SANCA Family,

A record-setting heat wave is on the way to Seattle. Temperatures on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday are expected to be in excess of 95 degrees and may hit triple digits. In the past 100 years, Seattle has recorded 100+ temperatures only three times, so this is truly a unique situation. The large open gym spaces at SANCA do not have air conditioning.

Here’s what you need to know regarding classes and camps at SANCA:

  1. Camps will continue to operate Monday-Friday. Students will take more breaks, do less strenuous circus activities, and spend some time in the blue and green rooms where there is A/C. We also have students play in the sprinklers outside.
  2. All other classes are cancelled for those two days.
  3. Due to the nature of the environment in the Flying Trapeze Tent, and to protect our staff and students, SANCA is preemptively cancelling all Flying Trapeze classes on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Students will automatically receive a credit in their account for the canceled classes. Students may request a refund by contacting the SANCA Front Office.

Message from SANCA’s Development Director – Jeff Deveaux

It’s with a sense of bittersweetness that I announce my resignation as Development Director at SANCA. My seventeen-year tenure at SANCA as a coach, grant writer, and development director has been filled with amazing experiences, people, and opportunities that I will never forget. After all these years I’ve decided to pursue a new opportunity and I’ve accepted a position as the Grants Manager at the Henry Art Gallery.
I feel fortunate to have been a part of SANCA and to have had the opportunity to meet so many of you and share the experience of circus with you and your families. As inspirational, exciting, and fun as circus is as an art form and activity, it’s really the community of people that make it so special, and I want to thank you all for everything that you bring to the SANCA community; it’s been an honor knowing all of you.
Best Regards,
Jeff Deveaux

SANCA during COVID-19 – Summer 2021

Hello SANCA Family,

As you may have heard, Governor Inslee issued an order that allows businesses to welcome vaccinated guests unmasked indoors. For now, SANCA will continue to require masks for everyone who enters our facilities – no exceptions.

The Governor’s order excludes schools, as students under the age of 12 cannot be vaccinated. As SANCA has a lot of students under the age of 12, we are following that part of the order. Masks will be required at SANCA until further notice.

Cheers,
John ‘JT’ Tannous

GiveBIG 2021 – Update

We asked you to GiveBIG . . .

. . . AND YOU DID!

Washington’s GiveBIG event has been the keystone of SANCA’s annual spring fund drive since it launched eleven years ago, and while it’s always been an essential source of support for SANCA, this year your support at GiveBIG was crucial in helping SANCA to sustain our circus programs and start the process of recovery as we continue to deal with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our circus community came together to raise $26,900 online. With offline giving and a matching gift of $5,000 established by members of SANCA’s Board of Directors, we raised a total of $32,253 — exceeding our $25,000 fundraising goal! Thank you!

You’ve also been loud and clear about your passion for circus arts and your support for SANCA as a vital non-profit arts organization in Seattle! The GiveBIG leaderboards for online giving report that SANCA places:

  • 11th in fundraising among 389 participating arts organizations.
  • 77th among all 1,643 participating organizations.

Your support this year at GiveBIG ensures that our students will continue to have opportunities to participate in healthy and creative circus classes. Your generous gifts of support will:

  • Sustain circus arts programs while SANCA is still under pandemic restrictions.
  • Provide support to youth who are low income through SANCA’s BIPOC and Youth Scholarship Funds.
  • Help SANCA reimagine and rebuild our Social Circus programs and community partnerships to bring an even stronger lens of equity and diversity to our work.

You have made it possible for SANCA to survive these uncertain times. Thank you so much!

Sincerely,

Jeff Deveaux

Development Director
