Job Description: AIR (Artist in Residence) Program Coordinator
Position Title: AIR Program Coordinator
Employment Type: Part-Time
Hours: 10-12 hours per month
Compensation: $25.00 per hour
Reports To: Susie Williams, Director of Productions and Venue Operations
Position Summary: The AIR Program is designed to provide circus artists space to create and develop new work. The program brings new artists and inspiration into the SANCA community and fosters the development of contemporary circus as an art form. The AIR Program Coordinator is responsible for recruiting and selecting artists to participate in the program, and supporting their creation projects at SANCA by serving as a liaison between the artists and the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept submissions to the program and respond in a timely manner.
- Review submissions for logistic viability and alignment with SANCA’s mission, vision, values.
- Facilitate residency schedules, community exchange elements, artist orientations and artist onboarding.
- Provide support and creative solutions for artist projects within the boundaries of SANCA’s resources.
- Draft and finalize residency agreements.
- Maintain regular check-ins with artists throughout residency.
- Gather post-residency feedback.
- Track quantifiable and qualitative program information.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate has a strong background in professional circus arts performance and has themselves participated in an artist residency program of some kind. Familiarity with SANCA programs and policies preferred. Ability to communicate well and foster a positive work environment essential.
The AIR Program operates on a rolling submission basis. The program coordinator must have the ability to review applicants in a timely manner and have sufficient schedule flexibility to accommodate, within reason, artists’ scheduling needs.
